From the event director: 45 days until the challenge! Andrew Devenish-Meares and Dave “Ralph” Rubie have entered the tandem challenge, hopefully it’ll be a bit warmer than it has been in Armidale over the last week!

VIDEO COMPETITION; GREAT PRIZE!

This year riders have the opportunity for the first time to enter the NAB Coffs Coast Cycle Challenge Video Competition.

Create a video of your ride on the day of the Event. The judges will be looking for action, scenery, colour and excitement but most of all lots of fun and smiles; perhaps a few grimaces.

The winner will receive an open order to the value of $400 on a store of the winners choice.

Inverell interclub

Inverell CNT will be holding their annual interclub road race on Saturday 15 July, a 70km handicap from Gilgai to Bundarra return. Sign on at Gilgai on the day from 12pm with racing to start at 1pm.

Last Saturdays handicap race on Long Swamp was won by newcomers Andrew White from Ky Ho, with Gareth Kelly in third place, no doubt helped by the handicap super brain Bob Murison, who managed to keep a big chasing bunch well off the back for the entire race. Andrew and Ky started at 2 minutes, had caught the Go group just after the halfway mark and were never caught after that.

Grafton cycling club will be holding the Mauri Kautto team time trial on the 9th of June (that’s next weekend) so if you’re keen to put a team together you don’t have much time to get an entry in.

The Coffs Harbour club has reminded us that their cycling festival in August has a good range of challenges (not races per se) at varying distances from 100km to 20km. August will be perfect for escaping the winter in Armidale and having some fun on a bike.
