Sam Jenner won the 15K Individual Time Trial this afternoon averaging over 40kph in testing conditions that exposed riders to a tail/cross wind for much of the outward leg of the hilly Armidale Long Swamp course. Mick Hoult did a great ride powering home for second place, also getting under the 23 minute mark with Swanny also looking to have now regained much of his early season form taking third spot. ACC riders also gave a warm welcome to new rider Ben Hutton who recorded a 28m:25s on his first ever time trial – well done Ben!
Despite being the peak season for aerial attacks, Malcolm the killer magpie was not anywhere to be seen and riders were allowed to charge up and down the course at 1-minute intervals without incident. Deb and Karlee McMillan did a fantastic job of time keeping as always and thanks Rob Tindale for putting the signs out while Kirky lounged around on the beach, and to Dave Jenner for holding riders on the start line.
Well done to Sam and to all the riders who competed this afternoon. Clocks change tonight so don’t miss the Sunday club run at 7am tomorrow morning and even more importantly, don’t miss the 40K handicap race next weekend on Boorolong where there are sure to be some fireworks on the extended course used for Round 21 of the Road Racer competition.
