On a windy day and with most riders saving themselves for the road race carnival the next day there were no standout times in the junior time trial … with the exception of Clancy Rowlands and Emma Swan both of whom were competing for the very first time! Clancy recorded a very good 2:42 on his new racing bike, while Emma’s time was 3:50 on a BMX.

Following the time trial was a 5 lap handicap race with riders starting off in three groups. Dan Allen in the first group to start took off like a rocket and led from start to finish. Gillian Backhouse came in second with Cody Burton third.

Seniors then rode criteriums in A and B grades, with Geoff Straub winning A grade from Pat Ainsworth and Rob Tindale. Dave Jenner won B grade from Andrew Swan (taking advantage of everyone else saving the legs for the road race) and Bob Murison.
