Brisbane to Noosa Century Ride

Peter Wilkinson, Cole Wilkinson, My brother in law, Peter Sullivan and his brother Des and I rode the Brisbane to Noosa 100 mile ride on Sunday 8 June.As always seems to be the case with USM it was well organised and we arrived safely at about 1.40 pm. It was a fine start then a wet middle section from Caboolture to Bli Bli then fine to the finish. As it was a south easterly wind it was most helpful towards the end. There was one MONGREL hill on Kiels Mtn. Rd. where I was wishing I had something bigger then my 25 . Peter and the Wilko’s managed to not have to walk. . We stayed up the coast till Tuesday and went for a ride on Tuesday. Before returning and met up with two Noosa riders who showed us a lovely trip out through Cooroy and back on Sunshine Drive. Unfortunately, on the descent of that closed section of road that is used for the Noosa Tri. One of the riders, Mick Murphy, went down on a slippery piece of road covered in twigs and leaves and broke his hip. We were only doing about 10 k’s and being very careful so it just goes to show how venerable we can be and how important it is to ride safely. Sorry to be a bit morbid but it shook us all up a bit.

It wasn’t a race but…

… we all know what happens when there are more than two riders in the same place. Cole and Wilko recorded a time of 5:30:14 to finish in 118th and 119th positions. Ray rode at a more leisurely pace with 7:06:49.
