Yet another great result, with Col Maciver placing second in his age category of the NSW Individual Time Trial Championships.
This event was held on 27 July 2008 on a course at Calga on the Central Coast. Col’s race was over a distance of 22km, reasonably hilly with a very rough surface for the first third before smoothing out onto a section of the old Pacific Highway in the latter stages.
Despite by his own assessment not being in peak form at the moment, Col recorded an excellent time of 34:05, just under 19 seconds behind the winner Dennis Fahey of Waratah Veterans. And although the field was small, what it lacked in numbers was more than made up for in quality, including as it did two masters level world champions.
Following on from his win in the Autumn Festival Criterium and third place in the state hill climb championships, the form doesn’t seem too bad for Col, who is still one of the most consistent riders around. Well done Col!
