A large number of riders including the NIAS U15/17 squad contested a 40km handicap on Dangarsleigh Road. Despite some rather vocal complaints about the handicap and the wisdom of those who set it, it turned out to be a very good race featuring two laps out and back to the 10km turn around.

Armidale’s NIAS rider Sam Jenner soloed to a impressive win after riding away from his group on the final ascent of Knobs Hill. He was then strong enough to hold his lead all the way back into town. The remnants of the group rode well, with Aylie Allen and Chicka Russell following soon after Sam to claim second and third places.

A mixture of Scratch and Block riders came in just behind having overhauled all bar the three leaders. Crossing the line in fourth place, Mick Hoult recorded fastest time of the day.
