Contamination blamed.

An upset win by Dave Rubie in the club TT has been dogged by controversy as his bike was impounded, pending further investigation.  Weather forced a shortening of the course from the originally planned 20km to somewhere around 500m, a course which suited the leisurely style of the winner and only competitor.

Roger Munday, clearly being spooked by the secret weapon Dave had been preparing in his shed, was nowhere to be seen as the pink and purple bicycle was ridden to the start line.  Special aerodynamic features included sculpted plastic covers over the tyres which looked suspiciously like mudguards and bulky STI brake/shifters replaced with futuristic looking blades on the down tube.

Upon finishing in a record time for that particular course, the bike was impounded by officials.

“We don’t know what it’s…made of.  It’s not carbon fibre or aluminium.  In fact, it seems like it might be some kind of ferrous metal, but it’s got a Repco sticker on it which confused us, because it pretty clearly isn’t a car”.

Dave claimed the contamination wasn’t his fault – being unaware of the origin of the bicycle in question.  “I got it from the tip”, he said, “I don’t know where it came from before that.  I’ve never been tested positive for Repco before”.

Club officials have withheld the stunning time for the course while their investigations continue.
