Sam Jenner competing in the Australian Junior Track Championships

Sam is competing at the Dunc Gray Velodrome this week in the “2011 Scody Cycling Australia Junior National Track Championships”, aka the SCAJNTC which I believe holds the record for the longest named sporting event in the world.

(I will update this post with his results as they come in).

Junior Men U15 200m Sprint Qualification, Sam bagged 11th place (12.825 @ 56.14km/h), top 16 placing guaranteeing a spot in the round 1 qualifiers.  Unfortunately, Sam was beaten by Kurt Santagada (who qualified 6th with a 12.687)  with a time of 13.188.  You’ll get him next time Sam.

In the 500m Junior Mens U15 time trial, Sam came 11th in the final.  Amusingly, one of the riders (Angus Flood, number 63) was fined $20 for “presentation of no number”.  Ask yourself:  how did they know his number when they fined him?  Spooky!

Update One:

Kurt Santagada went to do be disqualified for “collusion” which I think is like having a collision that’s just an illusion.  I think.  Might have to check the rule book.

Saturday, Sam ended up 5th in the 2000m U15 Individual Pursuit, just missing the medal ride-off by 3.157 seconds.  More disqualifications (rider disqualified for overtaking a rider once already overtaken – I am officially confused beyond words by track cycling).
