Britt Sisson wins the handicap on Long Swamp, Mitch Bullen heading off to Coffs Harbour to defend his Country Track title and club members abandon their road bikes to have a crack at the Walcha Mountain bike Challenge.
Plus, meet Mark Renshaw!
Britt Sisson won last weekends 30km handicap on Long Swamp from Chicka Russell and Wilf Keller. The handicap favoured C grade although the group had to work hard to maintain their lead as the accumulating riders from the other groups clawed back time and distance. Excellent ride from Britt.
Mitch Bullen and a group of juniors from the club are scheduled to head down to Coffs Harbour this weekend for the NSW Country Track Championships. Mitch recently returned from a Sydney invitational that Cycling NSW haven’t bothered posting the results for (slackers).
Also this weekend, the Westpac helicopter Walcha Mountain bike challenge – quite a few of our club members are heading down to Walcha to ride the 70km (I think we all bottled on the 90km challenge which apparently involves a ride into the Gulch of Doom).
The Port Macquarie club have reminded us that they will have Mark Renshaw hosting their cycling carnival in November:
Mark Renshaw Weekend 26th/27th November
In a nutshell we have a unique weekend lined up 26th/27th November which will include racing over our long course for grades A,B,C and D. Mark Renshaw will be our guest officiating and presenting prize money. On the Saturday night Mark will be the guest of honour at a dinner at Rydges in Port with Scott Sunderland as Master of Ceremonies. On the Sunday there will be a “recovery ” training ride with Mark Renshaw for a minimum of 60 km’s.
Sunday morning will finish up with coffee etc back at Rydges on the water overlooking the Hastings River.
