Meanwhile, back at the ranch

Harrison “H” Munday beats Greg “Gregatron” Manttan in a hornswagglin’ 30km handicap on Dangarsleigh, with Iron Mick Hoult in third.  Newcomer Aaron O’Grady gets the bum steer.

A smaller than usual crew competed at Dangarsleigh, with many riders saving their berries for the gunfight at the Nemingha-Nundle the next day.  Rob Tindale raced showed up twice this weekend without Kirkie which I think set a new record for the both of them, given that they’re normally thicker than Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday.

As Col Maciver relates:

What catches my eye are the times for H, Greg and Mick. Must be close to being one of the fastest times ever for club riders on Dangarsleigh Road (Peter Macdonald and maybe Straub excluded). Greg and H dropped Mick, I think on Knobs Hill coming back, and that in itself says something.

Good rides also from [Dave “Ralph” Rubie], Wilf and another mountain bike refugee, Peter Hosking.

(I think the good ride award should go to Chicka – all round brilliant domestique and he also doubles as Dave Boundy’s crash pad).

Apologies from the handicapper (that’d be Col) to Aaron O’Grady. He promises to do better next time.  Aaron (fresh from racing A grade in Coffs Harbour) must be the only honest cyclist in Armidale.  When asked whether he had been riding much, he gave the expected answer (i.e. no) but in his case he meant it!  Bravo Aaron.  If you ask Mick Hoult if he’s been doing nothing, he’ll also say “no” but if you look at his Strava account he probably clocked up 600km that week.
