Benham Burns ’em

Jo Benham leads entire field from the off to win a 30km handicap on Dangarsleigh road.

Beautiful racing weather greeted the club with wind adding some spice to the Dangarsleigh road course.  Jo Benham started with the Go group although she quickly dropped the lot of them on the way out on monument hill.  Phil Bookallil (nice new bike, same old dangling saddle bag!) tried bravely to peg her back but was ultimately unsuccessful, being overhauled by Nicholas Cobcroft and then Dene Bourke.  Nicholas put on a scorching, solo turn but still didn’t have enough time to catch Jo who was on a mission from the off.  The result particularly good given the devastating effect the wind had on solo riders on the way back into town.

Harrison “H” Munday recorded fastest time of the day.

Thanks to Roger Munday for running the race!  No thanks to the tortured warbler at the Armidale Club who was yodeling his way through “hallelujah” when we arrived at the bowling club much to the amusement of Ice Cold Billy Mara.

Starting order:

Go: Phil “The Pelvis” Bookallil, Dave “Ralph” Rubie, Jo Benham, Jack Parker, Ray Phillips
