Rain stops play

The weather gods crashed the ITT party today with impeccable timing.  The juniors had managed to get a few quick laps in at the track before beating a hasty retreat a little earlier than normal.  The picture out on Dangarsleigh Road for the senior time trial at 4pm however was of a bedraggled bunch of cyclists bunched in the back of cars peering up at the gloomy skies as the rain lashed across the start.  One by one the smart ones worked out that it wasn’t to be until there were just a handful left. Then came the desperate suggestions of reducing it to 15K or just getting a time of some type, anything really, anything other than packing up all the aero gear and going home.  Eventually though, even the guarantee of a podium spot wasn’t quite enough to keep the hard core riders interested and after Swanny had been lashed by a hail storm on a quick recce up the road, we left Bourkey to take the soggy signs back down again…  See you all at 7am tomorrow, there should be a big roll-out 🙂
