What a week this has been for Armidale Cycling Club, and we haven’t even found time to mention Round 2 of the National Para-Cycling Series which took place in Bathurst last weekend. Andrew Devenish-Meares found a new stand-in pilot in non other than Phil ‘Keglegs’ Thomas who has quickly learned to master Black Betty over the last couple of weeks – clearly he’s a natural as the ACC duo brought home another medal coming second in the TT and also the road race despite cracking a rear rim in the TT. They’re now overall leaders in their category (B), and consequently have an impressive looking jersey for their hard work.
This really is a fantastic effort – imagine how well they’ll go when they get a bike that doesn’t weigh 20Kg! If you aren’t aware already, Andrew is currently fund-raising to buy a lighter, and faster tandem for racing, you can read more about this on his blog pages and of course you can donate directly into their account at New England Mutual – BSB: 932 000, Account: 735588, Account Name: Tandem Armidale Racing Team.
Here they are along with all the other series leaders with their new jerseys and latest pieces of silverware – Andrew and Phil are in the back row, 4th and 5th from the left.
