Sam “The Jennerator” Jenner smoked the field on Saturday, after having done three hours of road work beforehand. The TT course on long swamp favours the climbers and Swanny posted the second best time. Jeff Flatt at 25 minutes flat caused a bit of mirth with his full on TT rig including helmet.
The gusting winds were mentioned by some competitors as limiting their performance but I think they were just intimidated by Col Maciver, “Rascal” Flatt and the Cannibal on some serious weapons. Jack Parker posted a time that shows he is ready to step up to the next level but the day belonged to Jenner.
Thanks to Dave Rubie for filling in as ‘on the spot’ reporter this week and for running the race and doing the signs. And the timing gauntlet has been well and truly thrown down. After Dave Harris provided us with 1/100th sec timing a couple of weeks ago on Boorolong, Dave “Omega” Rubie has raised the bar with 1/1000th sec timings this weekend.
Interestingly, comparing performances today to those just under 2 months ago at the same distance on the same course, Swanny (-4s), Johnny (-7s), Jack(+11), Dene(-3s), Karlee(+7) and Clint(+21) were within seconds of their previous time whereas Col (-34) and Luke (-1m:55s) have achieved significant gains which reflects general opinion on Luke’s rise up the ranks and Col’s form carried over from Bathurst.
