The second NRS round kicks off this week with the 4-stage Jayco Adelaide Tour running from 9-12 April. Harrison Munday will be flying the flag for Armidale as one of 237 registered riders and one of 7 in the Oliver’s Real Food racing team. They’ll be up against tough Australian and New Zealand competition including the likes of Sam Crome (Charter Mason), Jack Bobridge (Budget Forklifts) and Guy Kalma (Otoc Vault) who currently lead the rankings after the Tour de Perth first round last month. The Oliver’s guys aren’t there to just make up the numbers though, as clearly signalled by Kiwi Ryan Christensen who finished 6th in the GC and is no doubt raring to go again.
H has been enjoying his preparation, managing to take Jack Haig’s Strava KOM off him on Friday. Things got even more serious with a state open race on Saturday. With 160K under his belt for the day he got in the winning break and was looking good for some glory when his cassette broke quickly followed by a puncture – it doesn’t get much more unlucky than that!
Hopefully lady luck will be shining on you next week H – good luck to you and the boys. We’ll be following your progress online and for those who manage to finish the Thunderbolt Roubaix next Sunday, there are highlights on GEM at 12:00 noon.
