
Over the next two weekends (Saturday 25th February and Sunday 5th March), Armidale and Tamworth are hosting an Interclub Criterium at their local closed circuits. Entry is open to any local Cycling Australia licenced riders, especially those from Armidale, Tamworth and Inverell.
The Armidale event will start with a Teams Road Pursuit race – each represented club will enter one team of four riders. The teams will be timed over four laps of the 1.2km circuit with the time of the third rider home counting. The fastest team wins a cash prize of $200.
Following the Teams Pursuit, regular graded criterium races will be held. Format and sequencing depends on numbers but likely to be along the lines of A Grade – 35 mins plus 3 laps, B Grade – 30 mins plus 3 laps and C Grade 25 mins plus 3 laps. Standard race entry of $3 applies for the Armidale event, travelling riders please bring your CA licence with you to assist with sign-on.
To help travelling riders, the Armidale event will commence at the earlier time of 2:30pm on Saturday 25th February. The Tamworth event will start at 9am on Sunday 5th March. Even if you don’t intend to race, please come along and support your local clubs at this fun and sociable interclub event.
Note entrance to the Traffic Education Centre (TEC) is via the easternmost gate at the eastern end of Mann St. Please enter with caution in case racing is underway and travel in a clockwise direction – ie turn left when you enter the circuit. Parking is available in the centre of the circuit or on Mann St.
