Spartacus Rises

A much cooler and breezy day saw a solid turnout at the TEC for some more graded scratch Crit racing. It was great to see club stalwart Andrew Swan back the mix, as well as a number of new faces who we look forward to welcoming back very soon!

With the MTB crew carving up a storm out at UNE for the National Series, it was a day for the roadies to set the pace. Col was marshalling proceedings ensuring racing was tightly organised, and in particular directing the fast paced A grade group to take half laps at appropriate times meant that the grades were kept apart and able to focus on the task at hand. Great work Col!

Anyway, back to the racing, and with a strong wind blowing and a solid pace being set, both grades came down to bunch sprint finishes. B grade saw Mitch Jones record his another convincing win, followed by Dene Bourke taking out a close second from ice-cold Billy Mara, with Dave Jenner coming in just behind for 4th!

A Grade again saw Pete Harris launch a devastating attack up the final climb of crit hill, and Spartacus surged away to take out a clear win ahead of ironman Mick Hoult, with Shaun Brennan taking an outstanding 3rd place.

Thanks to Col for running the race, and we’re back same time & place next week as we close in on the Club Crit Championships in 2 weeks and New England Festival Crit the week after.
