John Scott-Hannibal had the lot of us with Chianti and Fava beans, fully decked out with speed weaponry and with something to prove. Prove it he did putting 29 seconds into his closest rival Mick the Indian Giver. Brent Weston continued a series of impressive outings but he still has a few tricks to learn from the hungrier riders.
John then backed up his time trial with a win in the 15km road race from Andrew Kirk and Brent Weston, some of the faster time triallists having clearly left a lot more on the road than the cannibal.
Phil Thomas took out the B grade handicap from Col Maciver and Roger Munday, with Freya Weston an impressive first in the C grade race from Phil Bookalil and Mark Haydon.
Organisation from a relaxed Swannie complete with a card table, deck chair and Jacketless Mick Sozou in attendance like a loyal manservant. We almost expected robes, pipes and slippers on the finish line but obviously we didn’t leave enough time for Swannie to get changed.
