Mitch continues to impress with his progress this year after switching focus to track riding. He has taken 3rd place in the Keirin down at Adelaide amongst some other impressive results.
Despite the obvious handicap of having no easy access to a velodrome, Mitch has proved competitive in Adelaide against some of Australias and the Pacifics best track sprinters. Just as an example:
Elite Men 200m Sprint Qualification – qualified 8th (68.32km/h, 10.32 seconds)
Beaten by Shane Perkins in the quarter final. Ended up 7th overall.
3rd in round 1 of the mens Keirin on Friday. Won the Round 1 repechage, then consolidated to take a very impressive 3rd in the final of the Mens Keirin behind some very talented riders in Jason Niblett and Simon Van Velthooven.
Team Sprint: Bullen, James Glasspool and Andrew Taylor brought home 4th place against some very experienced legs, unfortunately pipped for the Bronze medal in the finals.
It’s difficult to appreciate just how hard it is to qualify for this event, let alone post results that put you amongst Australias Elite. Excellent results Mitch!
