Mitch Bullen comes home to Armidale next week after wrapping up a great 5-day International Track Series (ITS) in Adelaide with a win in the Keirin on Sunday night. While still very early in the year, Mitch is showing good form following his exciting recent performance at the Melbourne Cup on Wheels Carnival.
He’d started the ITS meet with a 5th place in the sprint series on Wednesday, then a 2nd place in the keirin on Thursday and a 3rd in the sprint on Saturday. Then it all came together in the showdown men’s keirin final on Sunday night at the Adelaide Super-Drome. Taking the lead coming into the bell, the former Australian sprint national champion charged to the line ahead of Jacob Schmid and Braeden Dean. “It has been a long, tough week of racing, so good to finish it off with a win,” said Mitch who finished second to Glaetzer in Thursday’s keirin final.
The ITS Adelaide is a five-day UCI Category 1 track cycling event providing cycling fans a rare opportunity to catch Australia’s stars in action on home soil. ITS features 170 cyclists from 12 countries battling for valuable qualification points for the 2016 UCI Track World Championships and Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Well done again Mitch – great to see you up on the podium and also great to see Australia performing so well against quality international competition.
