Despite the threat of rain, there was another good turnout at the track yesterday afternoon. First up, Deb and Karlee sent 14 riders round the 1.2k circuit for an individual time trial as part of the Development Program (growing set of results now available online), followed by a handicap road race with a number of senior riders supporting and coaching throughout. Tom Simmonds was presented with his “2 Minute” jersey having cracked the magic ITT time a few weeks back – congratulations Tom!
Note: The 2015 Junior Club Championships are at 2:30pm next week, immediately following Senior Racing which has been brought forward to 1pm – all welcome for BBQ and drinks.
After a brief shower following Saturday’s Development Program, despite damp conditions, another dozen or so riders rolled up for a Senior Criterium race – a very relaxed 30 minute plus-two-laps affair under the watchful eye of Swanny. It was an afternoon of solo attacks, none of which stuck for more than half a lap but it proved to be an excellent opportunity for Kirky to test out a range of new hand signals which no one understood. Johnny continues to gain form and his confidence on the damp track was clear as he pulled away more than once through the esses.
In the end, it was a final lap attack from Kirky that sealed the win, going clear on the hill with Rob H, and with no one in the pack prepared to chase, the pair stayed clear to win by several bike lengths.
