Please see the following important notice and reminder to all about the intent of Tuesday and Thursday rides
These rides are not an official club ride, they have not been sanctioned by the police and RTA and we have not sought this. Consequently there is no insurance coverage and you ride at your own risk. The rides involve a bunch of people getting together with the aim of learning to ride safely in a group and learning the skills and techniques required to become a safe, efficient and successful club rider. They are not a race and they are not the forum on which to do your most intense training of the week. Feel free to do this in your own time.
The pace and sprinting that is occurring on these rides is dangerous given the level of ability, knowledge and skill that exists in these mixed non-graded groups. That is why the club is asking that it be stopped.
As a club, the overall standard of technical ability has slowly declined over the past few years. We have managed to attract a lot of new riders and racers recently, which is fantastic, but we want them to become good and safe riders, not just fast ones. That is what these rides are for. Most of us in the club could improve technically, and with the help of Bullo on Thursdays and some of the senior riders of the club on Tuesdays, this is what we hope to achieve.
Lastly, as we are getting new members, these rides are intended to help them, not intimidate them, as we want and need new members for our future. Please remember this.
Please all help to make these rides the safe, enjoyable experience they are meant to be. Do your hard training in your own time, and prove a point on Saturdays in our formal, approved races.
Happy, safe riding
