Hunter Junior 2 Day Tour

Congratulations to Armidale riders Sam King and David Cook who both raced at the Hunter Junior 2 Day Tour last weekend in the U17 category, competing in all three events – the 10k ITT, 60k Road Race and a 25min + 3 lap criterium.

Both the ITT and road race were raced in very tough conditions with strong gusting 30/40km winds. In the latter event Sam dropped off the peloton with about 15km to go while Dave managed to hold on finishing just 16s down in 20th spot. In the criterium the U17 were divided into two groups with both Armidale boys racing in group B and both right in the mix with 2 laps to go, unfortunately Dave then came off his bike through no fault of his own. He was fine but suffered a flat in the process so that was the end of his race. Sam hung in there, missing out on the final sprint but claiming 11th and finishing 9th overall in the U17 Mens GC courtesy of completing all three events.

Well done Sam and David, it’s great to see Armidale represented at the tour and we look forward to hearing more racing news from you at the State Championships in Wagga next month. They’ll be joined in the U17 category by Katherine Hosking and Emily Wooster and in the U15 by Isabella Hosking. Good look to you all!
