David Cook stormed to the top of the race leader board yesterday in the 15km individual time trial on Long Swamp. Starting at 6m:30s, he overtook six riders on his way to victory, continuing the great form he showed at the State Championships two weeks ago.

It was a pretty horrible cold and breezy afternoon with no sign of the sun and temperatures only just hovering around 9 degrees, but that didn’t stop David braving the conditions in a skinsuit which might just have made the difference as he edged victory from Iron Man Mick Hoult by 4 seconds. Dave Munday was 15s further back followed by Hugh Munday, both riding on conventional bike set-ups.

Behind Hugh there were 5 riders within 17s of each other led by evergreen Col Maciver, both Phil Thomas (24:52s) and Josh Denham (24:54s) recording PB’s. Don’t forget you can check all your own ITT results right back to February 2013 at the bottom of our Results Page.

Thanks to Peter Hosking for putting the signs out and running the race, also for attempting to calculate times and announce the winner under pressure at the end, despite not knowing who half the riders were!

Congratulations to David Cook on a great win which will surely shake up a few rivals ahead of the Club ITT Championship now just 3 weeks away on the 17th September.
