ITT Championships – Results

Results are in for the Armidale Cycling Club ITT Championships 2016 and congratulations to Michael Hoult, winner of the M1 category and overall 2016 Club ITT Champion.

David Cook – Junior Mens Champion (U15, U17) – 15km
Jo Wauch – Womens2 Champion (W3+) – 25km
Michael Hoult – Mens1 Champion (U19, Elite, M1, M2, M3, M4) – 25km
Col Maciver – Mens2 Champion (M5+) – 25km

A day of sunshine sandwiched between days of rain provided excellent conditions and racing took place on a sunny afternoon with temperatures of 15 degrees and a light 11kph northwesterly breeze.

Mick Hoult averaged 40.29kph to win the M1 category by almost four minutes ahead of Dave Harris and Rob Tindale. In the M2 category Col Maciver romped home 56s clear of Swanny with an impressive time of 38m:14s for the 25km course. Swanny also produced a great ride to finish just a minute down on Col in a very competitive category.

Sadly the only female rider on the day, Jo Wauch rode strongly finishing in 45:02 and demonstrating good form for the nationals in two weeks time. The two riders competing in Junior Mens both had great rides with David Cook rattling home in a 23:03 at an average of over 39kph to grab the win from Tom Simmonds.

Two TAS school riders weren’t competing for club honours but were given the opportunity to experience an ITT and did very well in their first ‘serious’ event under the watchful eye of Mitch Bullen. Sam Jones completed in the 15km course in 28 minutes dead and James O’Brien in 29:51.

Congratulations to our winners on the day and to all riders who competed. Many thanks to a large number of helpers on the day, Lachie set up the course and manned both turning points with assistance from Peter Wilkinson while Mitch Bullen held riders at the start and Mark Bullen and Wilf Keller did timing.
