Nationals Wrap-Up

With all the excitement of Sam Jenner’s victory in the U23 Road Race, we haven’t yet got around to reporting all the full results from the 2017 Nationals which took place from 4th-8th January in Buninyong, Victoria.

In addition to Sam Jenner’s participation, another young rising Armidale star Sam Munday (Team Novo Nordisk) was also competing and he got things off to a flying start in the U23 Criterium race, finishing 19th in his Road Nationals debut. Sam was part of a 32-strong bunch sprinting for 11th place that powered home just 46s down on winner Alexander Porter (SAS).

Sam Jenner started his Nationals weekend with the Time Trial, finishing just 3s out of a top 5 place in 6th before hitting the headlines with victory in the U23 Road Race.

We are so fortunate to have not one but two young 19 year old Armidale road riders currently competing so well at national level. Congratulations once again to you both Sam Munday and Sam Jenner, you’ve set the Armidale cycling scene alight over the last few days and we look forward to continued success for you both in the 2017 season.

It’s also great to see three other local riders on the national stage – Dylan Sunderland and Ryan Thomas flying the flag for Inverell and Sam Spokes for Tamworth – great work guys!
