With the current air quality at hazardous levels, and the prospect of bushfire smoke remaining over the summer months, we have agreed a protocol to determine whether racing should be cancelled due to poor air quality.

Based on this we’ve agreed if AQI index rating is over 150 (which is classed as VERY POOR on the AQI scale) 2hrs before the race then we should cancel the racing that day. We are using the US AQI 2.5 particle index for this.
For consistency we will use the rating on https://www.airvisual.com/australia/new-south-wales/armidale which is updated on the hour, and there is also an app available for ANDROID and IOS.
