Last weekend Sam Jenner joined more than 150 of Australia’s most promising young road cyclists in tackling one of Australia’s toughest climbs at the 2015 Cycling Australia Junior Mountain Climb Championships at Mt Buffalo.
Sam rode in the under 19 category and contested the time trial on Saturday before battling Sunday’s road race which finished at Dingo Dell at the summit of Mount Buffalo. He was up against some stiff competition with 2014 world championship time trial medallist and dual-reigning Oceania time trial champion Michael Storer (WA) who predictably dominated the weekend winning both titles.
All the more impressive therefore that Sam powered home in 5th place on the Saturday time trial, just over 28s down on Storer in a time of 13m48.7s, backed up by a 13th place on Sunday in the road race which gave Sam a top ten spot in the overall GC – a great result – well done once again Sam!
