Evocities MTB Race

In case you missed our earlier post – Calling All Roadies – this coming weekend, Sunday 31st October, is the 100km High Hunnit MTB race at Armidale’s Piney MTB course. It’s part of the pretty serious Evocities MTB Series which has so far visited Bathurst, Albury, Tamworth, Wagga and Dubbo.

Something of a challenge has been thrown down by our mates over at NEMTB and they’ve created a course that’s ideal for us roadies who aren’t necessarily quite so great when lots of rocks and logs are thrown in our path. They’ve assured us that the course will be fast and flowy and perfectly suited to us. There is sure to be abundant opportunity for drafting and the forming of race echelons at the Piney, a course renowned for it’s tough crosswinds and bunch sprints. Enter solo for the 100km endurance race, or team up with a club member and challenge for the trophies.

As we missed our Club Champs on the weekend due to poor weather, this represents the perfect opportunity to jam some hard race kilometres into those legs a fortnight before the rescheduled Championships take place. Entrants need an MTB licence but day licences are available for $25 or anyone can use the 8 week free trial option from MTB Australia.

So get yourselves organised, jump online and register and let’s show those MTB people some real “elbows in” race skills in the Piney!
